I loved this series and the characters. Truthfully the books got better with each one. The story line kept me interested. It is "steamy" in some parts. The only thing that irritated me is at the beginning of each book the author recapped the previous, so if you are reading back to back (like I did) it was like, "yeah, yeah I know that already, let's get on with the new story line". But, I think if you haven't read the previous books that would've been an asset. Plus, that just tells you how much I wanted to know the new "story"!
Great series! Would highly recommend... just plan to be up reading late at night reading if you are like me and chasing around little ones all day. You won't want to put these books down!

Wow this series just keeps getting better with each book if you haven't meet Max, Cameron & Witt you need to read book one and then the rest I am so reading book 3 now I can't wait.
This has been a fantastic series. I'm a sucker for any of the free books. And the first book (free) really hooked me in. I didn't mind paying for the next ones because they were just so good and riveting. I loved how one book just continued to the next in a short chronological timeframe. I loved the character development of Witt and Max as they progressed over the books. Definitely a must-read series!!!
A must read! I loved every book in the series! I am normally a vampire romance advocate but Jasmine Haynes is so good I didn't miss my vampires whatsoever! With non-stop action and an amazing storyline, she draws you in from the first chapter and you can't put it down. I laughed, cried, felt such strong emotions with these characters. Read all five books in the Max Starr series and now am sad it's over. When a great series touches you like this it's always bittersweet. Truly great, don't miss reading them, you won't regret it.
I won't detail the story line, but just say that I love this series. You will laugh, cry and be thoroughly entertained. Very well written. I should say that it is a series and I ALWAYS have to read in order, but if that doesn't bother you, the story is always reviewed and can be read as a stand alone. I just finished #4 and can't wait to read the next.

Please keep them coming and don't forget to add more Ladybird. She is hysterical!

I purchased this ebook after an advertisement from the publisher in another book. I was really impressed this series is just what I was looking for in a mystery romance series.
Max and Long's (the detective) relationship grows a lot in the 2nd book and Cameron (her late husband who she still communicates with) takes a backseat. I probably would have preferred a bit from him. Overall, it was a great read.
I would start with book 1 so you have a better explanation on matters in book 2, but it could be read alone as well.
For me book 2 had great character development that I sort of expected in book 1. The relationships deepen in this book and for me the real attachment to the characters began. Max's husband (ghost husband) is less frequent in this book but for those of you that thrive on the paranormal aspect it is still present in Max. The bad guy in this series is REALLY bad and I do love to hate a good bad guy. Reading these books in order will definitely give you a better appreciation of the heroine's maturity and psychic growth. LOVED this series.

Max got on my nerves a lot. After reading the whole series I really understood her and everything she went through. Her past was bad and the things she was doing I hated. Book one Max really made me mad with the things she did. I really loved Witt. He did not care about Max past only the future they could have together. He put up with a lot from her. It is rare that I could read a series that got better with each book. The next book is always better than the last. That is why part one is my least favorite and part five is the best. I loved when Ladybird came into the story. She was hilarious. I love how it left an opening for another book but wrapped everything up.
