This is where it get hard to rate/review book from the same author, let me explain ...so i have been one to be reading Jennifer ... gosh like at least 2 years now ... and her range of writing is similar but different too ... so how to rate them when they are not the same book ...but you love them and don't know to make sure others know what you mean? does that make any sense whatsoever??! i love humor and i love mystery. what else do i love ... seeing a character have similar ways to me ... this 1st chapter in her book ... oh my goodness ... i about died ... died laughing ... died of knowing it was similar for me ... in my walk of life ... no spoilers where but read it ... see it and ask yourself could you do something similar ... would you become a puddle of mush in the store too? i die. i say whenever an author bring a kid into the mix ... usually i do fall head over heels in like with that little kid characters, where do these authors come up with them? so creative. or maybe they base them on someone they know??! so cute!! sweet!!! such a great read .... and i look forward to seeing what else she will come up soon enough. i would not hesitate to take her future reads out. Must read, LOVED it!! ( ;

Burning Up is the very book I have read by this author and it definitely won't be my last. What an amazing firefighter read!! I mean just look at that HOT cover!!

Romance between Jake and Erin- hot, steamy, sexy

Erin returns home to Portland. Jake is a single father to a twelve year old daughter.

I am very looking forward to reading Book 2 in the series!! I fully enjoyed this first book!

Burning Up by Jennifer Blackwood is the first book in her brand new Flirting With Fire series. Told in dual POV between the prodigal daughter returning home to Portland for the summer and her brothers' best friend, firefighter and father of a twelve year old, Jake.

Erin has crushed on Jake Bennett for what feels like forever, and the ten years she was gone have done nothing but make him even better looking and more attractive. But will this even work? He doesn't want to get involved in anything serious and cause problems with his daughter and Erin is leaving as soon as she can find another job back in San Fransisco. But is Portland really that bad? Does Erin really have to run off again to not be heard from for another ten years?

Jake refuses to bring his love life around his daughter - anyone he sees knows off the bat that it's not serious and not permanent. So when Erin comes home looking sexy and delicious he knows he should stay away. One, it's his best friends little sister. Two, she isn't staying around. But the heart wants what the heart wants and his heart (and libido) want Erin!

Well-paced, well-written and humorous and sexy this was a wonderful read. Enjoy!
This book was great Jake was such an amazing character the whole time trying to make all his choices to keep his daughter safe from any bad situations he could including dating. And Erin, Jake’s best friend since childhood’s little sister, finally has a weekend away as friends to get Jake’s family off his back about going to his sister’s wedding sans plus one. There is a lot of sexual tension, some funny situations thrown in and overall a trip that was underwhelming. But the attraction is still there and when they finally give in it’s all swoon worthy until a kink gets thrown in and Erin has to decide if she really wants to run back to California or stay in Portland with her family, best friends and Jake.
Jake as a character was great he tried to have self control with Erin for multiple reasons but when those both were out of the way he finally gave in and took a chance on Erin, cue the swoon.
Erin on the other hand kind of drove me crazy with being so determined to get back to California to teach and that it was so much better than Portland and so stubborn about it but I felt like there wasn’t a reason just something that made her wishy washy and just made you want to shake her then smack her on the head.
But the HEA was fabulous and those last few pages made everything worth it.
This is my first time reading this author, but I hope it won't be the last! I really enjoyed this story!

What lost the book a star for me was Erin's stubborn belief that she had to return to California. It monopolized too much of the book to me, when there were lots of things that she could have done to accept that her life hadn't gone according to her plan. The reason for this wasn't readily apparent to me, but there were hints at it, and I hope it will be fully explained later. Ignoring that part of her nature gave me a character that I found both endearing and easy to relate to. I liked Jake as a hero, and especially loved how he took to raising his daughter! Being a firefighter, I liked that he wasn't over the top macho about it, but was really just a normal everyday guy that has a dangerous job. I found that rather refreshing!

The plot was engaging and engrossing, making the book an easy read. I can't wait to read more of the series!
