Not sure if I read the same book as all those that rated this 5 stars. The main character has been alive for around 300 years and in the flashbacks we see that her life - especially her early years - has been extremely harrowing. Yet after all that, she has less maturity than a thirteen-year-old.
Halfway through, we switch point of view to her boyfriend. He was interesting enough that I actually finished the book.
But neither he, nor some of the plot twists introduced during the last part of the book was enough to make up for the childish, egocentric, immature behavior of the heroine, imho.

The Imati eBook CT Hillin Reviews
A nice summer read.
Excellent story. Jumped around quite a bit but following it was not a problem. The story ended much too quickly and I expected more.
This is a well written and involving story that was very hard to put down. The characters are well developed and just keep becoming more and more real as the book progresses. It was billed as a book for young adults but even as a 50-something I was riveted. I've recommended the book to many of my friends and family and am anxious for the next installment! If you want a book that immediately captures your attention and keeps it down to the very last page, this is the book for you!
it's a very smart book! by which i mean, it doesn't read as an amateur attempt at writing a sophisticated plot. i went to read the about the author and i saw why. i enjoyed it thoroughly. as i said its a sophisticated and thus complicated world. the author does a perfect job of putting enough details to make you feel your actually living in their world. most definitely recommend this book!
The first page captures you and then you are taken away......and that is why I loved this! Thoroughly entertaining. The repartee is great,
the storyline clever and I enjoyed 'visiting' the many different locations and times. From its enchanting cover to the last page (which opens the door for more ) I highly recommend this read.
Just finished reading this newly released title. Loved it. In fact, I loved every minute reading each page. It was well written, engaging, imaginative, and immensely fun to read. No dull, over-explained characters or circumstances, yet a well developed story that just kept sucking me in deeper and deeper. Follows the basic 'immortal' notions from one of my favorite old TV series called, 'Highlander'. That was a plus for me, as was the purchase price. Though written for a younger audience, I - at age 60 - rearranged my day so that I could keep reading without interruptions till I finished. Then I passed it on to my teenage son. I was, though, left with one big question. When will Book 2 be published? Looking forward to what happens next. C.T Hillin is an author that everyone should take note of. So, Ms. Hillin, keep on writing!
The Imati is one of the best supernatural books that I've read in a really long time. This definitely puts Hillin on my radar...I can't believe this is her first book, it read like one from a seasoned author! That being said, it ranks up there with some of the best of them. From the storyline to the characters, it's truly an entertaining and captivating book. Hillin does a great job at mixing the past and present so we can get a clear view of the characters and their history. I really hope she'll write more books soon!
